Working at camp is the best summer job for those who want a career in the outdoor industry - but don’t just take our word for it!

Watch the video below, next in the series from the perspectives of our summer staff! Hear from KC who earned internship credit for her wilderness leadership and environmental science degree by working as our Asst. Outdoor Adventure Director this past summer.

Wilderness Leadership and Environmental Science Graduate

“Falling Creek is a great place to work as adventure staff, because you’re getting to do the activity you love every single day. We have bar none the best adventure program in the area. We take kids on incredible world class trips to some of the most amazing places that you can possibly go in the Southeast.

I like to say I went to school and I majored in camp. It was a double major in wilderness leadership and environmental science, so I spent a lot of time outside looking at things and teaching people about the outdoors. So working at Falling Creek in the summer really boosted my studies and let me practice my skills, and I actually used my last summer as an internship here.

The internships can be molded to whatever major program you’re in. I’ve seen ones for business or accounting. Mine was pretty simple in an outdoor leadership program - it made a lot of sense, but you can mold it to whatever program you’re in. And Falling Creek is really flexible with that.

If you love outdoor adventure, and that’s something you’re passionate about teaching, Falling Creek is the place for you.”

What have some of our alumni gone on to do in the outdoor industry field after camp?
