David Echeverria
Facilities Technician & Lead Blacksmith
David grew up in the mountains northwest Georgia, in the small town of Trion. Being surrounded by the outdoors meant hiking and exploring the woods was all in a day’s work. He graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and a minor in Music Technology.
David’s first year at Falling Creek was in 2014 as a Blacksmithing and Pottery counselor. Though he had never done blacksmithing before, his background as an artist caused his affinity for the craft to grow quickly.
Since his first summer as a counselor, David has had the pleasure to explore many different careers, including as a USPS postman, professional dog walker, and resident blacksmith at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. He now lives in Hendersonville, NC, where he enjoys going to the gym and riding his single speed bike. When he’s not doing something outside, his hobbies include playing video games, making music and watching movies. As David says, having fun and enjoying life is the name of the game!
David works to ensure that camp’s facility stays beautiful and functional all year, as well as leads and instructs the blacksmithing program during the summer months. We’re lucky to have his artistic talents, technical skill, and hard work ethic on the Falling Creek team!
