Johnny Ervin
Assistant Program & Staff Director
Johnny “Beans” Ervin brings his contagious energy and camp knowledge to this position, with a focus on camp programming, and planning the fun events that campers will enjoy during the summer. He is also the Sorrel Line advisor and the activity advisor for the climbing wall during the summer months.
Johnny is from Chicago, Illinois and will graduate from William and Mary with a degree in Secondary Education and History in May. He currently teaches social studies in his student-teaching position at a Virginia high school.
Better known around camp as “Beans,” he was a camper for 7 years (‘13-‘19), before returning as a counselor for three summers (’23-‘25). In 2025, Johnny was a recipient of the annual Green and Gold Award, given annually to the staff member who best exemplifies The Falling Creek Code, and who is known for carrying the Falling Creek spirit of unselfishness in their heart. Not only did he teach climbing wall and swimming, Johnny was also the Line Head for Sorrel, the youngest group at camp. With his enthusiasm and humor, Johnny was the perfect fit for helping our youngest campers begin their Falling Creek journey. Now in this new role, he’ll continue to bring his camp experience, intentionality, leadership, and joy to help recruit staff and plan fun and memorable summer programming.
