Our first Saturday together at 2-Week Camp was a blast!
Back home, campers might spend Saturday morning playing video games, but yesterday we got to play a popular game in real life - it was Mario Kart day! On weekends at camp we take a break from our typical schedules and spend the morning playing an all-camp-game together.
After breakfast, each cabin got the supplies to build their own Mario Kart out of cardboard boxes to compete against other cabins in their line! Four campers had to fit inside a completely closed Kart, running around one lap together before switching out in the pit lane for another four campers, who would then run the final lap.
Just like a Mario Kart video game, there were plenty of items, obstacles, and powerups out on the course to influence the race! Item boxes would appear on the course at certain times, and a cabin could take one item box per lap if it appeared. They could receive the following powerups:
The end of the race finished with popsicles! From there we headed to free choice time, and then lunch.
In the afternoon on Saturdays, we get to do “special signups” and try some different activity offerings than usual. Yesterday afternoon the boys could choose from:
We’re looking forward to a stellar Sunday today.
