This video is a short clip from the 4th of July, capturing a couple campers’ thoughts on their way from the mud pit to wash off in the creek. “It’s just like it’s meant for fun,” one of the boys says about camp.
He’s right, camp is one of the few places we can go where everything is planned or built to enjoy, learn, and have fun. We feel lucky to have enjoyed another fun day yesterday - here are a few highlights!
Wednesday started with a Morning Watch led by counselor and former camper, Ender Limb. We followed this with a high-energy Morning Assembly.
Cooking at the F.A.R.M. using farm-fresh eggs, lettuce for salad, and sauteing hand picked squash.
Some great catches while fly fishing at the Green River Flats here at camp! The boys are able to fish on our private, trout-managed, section of the North Carolina Green River.
Sculpting bears in pottery, and throwing pots on the wheel.
A bloodthirsty swarm of werewolves invaded and was attempting to convert Falling Creek! They were looking to bite others into their ranks, and it was up to the remaining campers and counselors to fight them off. If players could make it through the hour, then their team would save the mountain!
If the werewolves pulled your flag belt, you became a werewolf too! Luckily, there were two ways to convert back into being a human - either turn in a “cure” (which were play balls found hidden around the game map), or convert more humans to werewolves. Every third flag belt that you turned into the “blood bank” would yield a fresh life, and players would be able to rejoin as humans.
The team with the most remaining humans at the end of the time period would be declared victorious, winning 100 Green or Gold points for their respective team!
