On Wednesday night, everyone split into Cabin Lines for Evening Program, and enjoyed Line Campfires. This allows each group to focus their conversations on the specific age and stage they’re at, meeting the boys where they are in their unique journeys.
Each Line at camp has a narrow range of ages, with boys in a similar stage of life. Peer interaction in mixed-age groups like this is important, since it serves as the foundation for many aspects of emotional development, including self-esteem, communication skills, and identity. This allows the boys in a narrow range of ages to find common ground, where the slightly younger boys can build confidence and the slightly older boys can gain mentoring skills.
There was time to sing songs, play games, and laugh, but there was also time to open up and have more serious discussions and reflections. Betula, the oldest group, got to enjoy the sunset at the “Top of the World” view, which was a definite highlight of the day.
You’ve been told to eat your veggies, but what about drinking them? At the F.A.R.M, boys learned how to turn fresh produce (like apples and carrots) into juice, and got to enjoy a taste test!
Yesterday the “Fishpacking Biventure” returned after 3 days of backpacking and fly fishing in the Panthertown Valley! There was also plenty of time to cool off in the creek, eat smores, and even hang out with some llamas who were on their own backpacking trip.
It’s sure to be as fantastic Friday today - especially because tonight we’re looking forward to our dance with Camp Illahee!
