If you’ve been keeping up with the blog all summer, then you know that Sundays are like the “reset button” after a big week at camp. Yesterday was no different, and we enjoyed the time together to rest, relax, and get ready for the second half of this 2-Week Camp session.
After cleaning our cabins for cabin inspection, we changed into our white shirts and gathered for church service by the lower lake. This week’s theme has been “attitude”, which was reflected in the skits, songs, and message of this week’s church. We enjoyed free choice time before lunch, Sunday Sundaes, and then some rest hour before the afternoon.
In preparation for the week ahead, boys could also sign up for some outdoor adventure trips! This included preps, day trips, and multi-day trips going rock climbing, mountain biking, paddling, and backpacking all over Western North Carolina. There are sure to be some great stories and photos coming later this week from those adventures.
Finally, for dinner we enjoyed a cookout on the turf field, where we also made cabin signs. These plaques hang outside the cabin to commemorate each session of campers, and many alumni enjoy finding their old cabin signs years later when they come back to visit.
To close our Sundays we always have Campfire, where we gather for funny skits, singing, and reflecting on a great week together. This time we introduced “honesty” as the theme for the week ahead. We’re looking forward to the second half of this 2-Week Camp session!
