Super Saturday!

Yesterday began another fun weekend at camp. We start Saturdays with an extra hour of sleep to recharge from a big week, and then jump into activities that are different from our usual schedule.

AM Tournaments

There were over a dozen tournaments and special activities offered in the morning that boys could choose to participate in. The photo of the board below shows all the “what” and “where” they could pick from!

PM All Camp Game

The Afternoon all-camp game was Deep Space Battle - In this game, Green (Pharrtians) and Gold (Tindaliens) were competing for the maximum amount of control time of six zones hidden around camp. The winner would get control of the ship’s navigation! Station masters were keeping track of who was in possession of a zone, and for how long a team had been in possession of that zone.

Players could capture zones by getting 10 of their teammates into the zone’s perimeter for at least 10 seconds - without having their flag belts pulled! Any zones that were captured could be stolen back by the other team, since players could only defend the perimeter of the zone once it was captured, not linger inside the boundary. This way players had to be wary of leaving their captured zones unattended, lest they be stolen by the opposition!

4 Captains were also designated on each team, marked by black flag belts and flagging tape. These flag belts were worth 15 minutes of “control time” added to the total score each, so they were valuable targets. The winning team was the side that had the most total control time over the course of the game.

Evening Program

After dinner, it was time for WrestleMania! It was full of all the wacky costumes, theatrical displays, cheesy lines, and wild cheering that you would expect.

We had to move from the Campfire area to the gym due to inclement weather, but the wrestlers still went all-out with their wild outfits, walkout music, and signature moves! In the final match, everyone thought “the Rizzler” was the overall champion, until he was challenged by Yates Pharr! With a final knockout punch, Yates was crowned the winner of Wrestlemania. It was a hilarious evening, and a memorable end to our Saturday night.
