We had two fun Evening Programs on Tuesday night: Wild N Out and Survivor!
The youngest two Cabin Lines played Wild N Out, and the oldest played Survivor. Tonight though, they’ll switch so everyone has a chance to do both. What were the games like?
The goal of this game was to eventually be the first team to build a big enough fire that would burn the rope fastest! To start, four teams were competing in “Reward Games” that would earn them fire building objects, giving them an advantage in the Final Showdown.
These games were:
Finally, it was time for the Final Showdown, where the ultimate winner would be decided based on their quick fire building & puzzle skills. Half of the team was on puzzle building, and the other half was fire building. Once the puzzle was completed (arranging parts of the FCC Code correctly!), the firebuilders could begin. The first team to build a fire large enough to burn the rope would win, and it was an exciting conclusion to a fun evening!
Meanwhile, the Tsuga and Sorrel cabins were playing Wild N Out, a TV game show style event where counselors were the ones doing the challenges, and campers could pie them in the face if they made mistakes!
Ender was captain of the Gold Team and Richi was captain of the Green Team. They played games called Spit Take, Pie or Die, Got Props, Wild Sauce, and So Fly. The team with the most points at the end would win!
For Spit Take, the two team captains sat across from each other while opposing team members tried to make them laugh and spit the water out of their mouth. Campers could also help make jokes! They used prompts like:
Pie or Die was a “finish the lyrics” game, where each team player had to finish the line of the song playing on their turn. DJ Zach had the aux cord, and when the song paused, the next person would have to finish singing the correct lyrics, or get smashed in the face with a shaving cream pie by one of their campers! The longer you stayed in, the more points you could accumulate.
For Wild Sauce, counselors from each team would go back and forth in a game of Categories. If someone gets stumped, he or she had to take a dab of hot sauce. Points were given to the other team anytime someone gets stumped.
For Got Props, each team had 90 seconds to improvise a funny skit using the props they were given (like a rope, a basketball, etc). The prompts included:
So Fly was the final tie breaker. Each team member had to brag about how fly, or superfly, their captain is. They usually say “My man (Staff Member/Captain) is so fly/superfly…” then the audience says “how fly/superfly is he/she”. If it’s funny, it gets a bell, if it’s not funny it gets a buzzer. The team with the most points wins the game.
It was an evening full of laughter and silliness. The counselors did a great job with improvising jokes, and it was impressive to see how many comedians we have working at camp!
