In The Swing Of Things

This group went sailing yesterday

Happy August!

Yesterday was the first day of activities for our second week of the camp session, and this is when boys really start settling in!

Boys are continuing work on their art projects, honing their skills in sports, working on progressions, making deeper friendships, and even heading out on multi-day trips off property.

Dupont Mountain Biking

Speaking of trips, yesterday we had a day trip to mountain bike in Dupont State Forest! After starting the ride by enjoying the fun wooden bridges and balance elements in the “kids loop,” they hit the trails. There was great weather, and the fast and flowy trails at Dupont never disappoint.

You haven't tried brussel sprouts till you've tried Chef Dee's sprouts!

Dee’s Sprouts

As a meal highlight, we had Chef Dee’s famous brussel sprouts for dinner, accompanying french chicken with potatoes, tomatoes, and artichokes with bread. You might be thinking, “but kids don’t like brussel sprouts!” Well, they give them a second thought once they’ve tasted these, which are roasted and caramelized so they’re sweet and savory rather than bitter.

They’ve acquired such a reputation here that they were even part of the background story for an all-camp-game earlier this summer, where players competed for the sprouts supply. Here’s a photo of Dee and Darrell making the brussel sprouts.

Evening Program

Last night we split into Cabin Lines to play different games in our age groups. Betula played dodgeball in the Thunder Dungeon, Robinia played Multi-ball on the courts, Tsuga played TacoCat on the Landsports Field, and Sorrel played Yoshi tag on the Turf Field.

Here’s to a terrific Tuesday!
