This past week was the first of many in this year’s Camp Reunion and Movie Show travel schedule.
This Fall, Yates is traveling from October through November for our Camp Reunion and Movie Shows tour. His first stops this week were Richmond, Virginia, Raleigh, Winston-Salem, and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Full Travel CalendarThe 2024 Movie Shows & Camp Reunions kicked off in Richmond on Monday, October 14th!
We are grateful to Allison & Brent Spillers and Lindsay & Wade Blackwood, who hosted the Richmond area Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion at the Spiller’s beautiful home.
It was a wonderful opportunity for FCC families to connect with those who are interested in coming to camp. A huge thank you to Win S. and Spencer B., as well as all of the returning campers and alumni who attended, who assisted in explaining what makes Falling Creek such a meaningful camp experience.
The center photo above shows Yates with Spencer B. (camper ’19, ’21-’25), his dad Wade (staff ’95), & Harrison F. (camper ’13-’21). Congratulations to Harrison who will be heading to Sewanee to play lacrosse!
In the far right photo above, we were excited to catch up with Hayden Vick, who served on staff the summers of ‘16 & ’17. Hayden is a teacher and basketball coach at St. Christopher’s School for boys in Richmond.
A huge thanks to Emily & Pat Funderburk for hosting the Raleigh area Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion! They have such a great home to welcome camp families and the Funderburks even served the famous Cheerwine drink and special FCC cupcakes.
Raleigh remains a strong camp town and we are grateful for everyone that came tonight to see the brand new camp movie.
There was a solid mix of returning campers who joined with FCC alumni to welcome new families that came tonight to learn more about the Falling Creek experience.

Joe Baden, a founding counselor from the 1969 first FCC summer, was also in attendance last night with his son Mark and grandson Eli. Yates sends his appreciation to all of the campers who helped him answer the questions tonight from parents and boys.
We are so very grateful for Annie Chambers and Nick Myott opening up their beautiful home to host the Winston-Salem Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion last night.
In the photo on the right, Robby Harris (camper ‘96-’98) and Stafford Kelly (camper ‘94-’95, ‘98) are Falling Creek Camp Alumni who were excited to bring their sons to be a part of the FCC Movies & Reunion event. Now their boys will all be campers together in 2025.
Pictured right, Aiden B. (camper ‘21-’25) told Yates that he decided to join his school’s cross country team this Fall, after being inspired by the FCC Ironman participants this past summer.
Aiden served on his friend’s Ironman Pit Crew last summer, but his new goal is to be a participant during Main Camp this coming summer. Go Aiden, we are proud of you!
Pictured below center, Charlie H, Ransome L, Tripp H., & Gibson J all went to Junior Camp for their first summer in 2024, and we’re thrilled that they will now all be returning for 2-Week Camp together in 2025.
To wrap up this first week of Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunions, Yates traveled down to his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A huge thank you to Jan Scott & Luke Farmer for hosting the event at their beautiful home. The boys had a blast playing football in the front yard and basketball in the driveway.
Pictured below in the center is Lee Royster (camper ’00-’05, staff ’09-’11), an attorney in Charlotte, took time out of his busy schedule to reconnect with Falling Creek.
The new camp movie was a hit with several boys seeing themselves in action at camp. Thank you to all the campers, families, and alumni for helping to share why we all enjoy being a part of the FCC community.
The boys who attended the Camp Movies and Reunions received an exclusive 2025 trunk sticker as a thank you for attending. Check out this year’s design!
This year features Fishers Field, down at the Green River Flats. This is one of the first places you drive through on Opening Day as you make your way up the mountain. Fishers Field is also near where our fishermen gather to enjoy the Green River, and one of the pastures our horses graze in.
Thanks to FCC alumnus Patrick McGrady (camper ‘05-‘06, ‘09-‘12, staff ‘16-‘17, ‘19-‘23) for the design!
Next week’s travel calendar begins on October 20th in Atlanta! You can see the full travel schedule here.
