What are we thankful for here at camp? This week we’ve been sharing our #WeekofGratitude posts on social media.
Each day centered around a different aspect of camp that we’re thankful for. We enjoyed hearing the comments and messages from everyone who added their specific memories and stories too!
See More On Our InstagramWe kicked off our “Week of Gratitude” by highlighting the most important part of camp - we’re grateful for the people!
Think of someone from Falling Creek that you’re grateful for: It could be your old camp friends, counselors, or cabin mates. Maybe someone who made you feel welcome on your first Opening Day, or someone you can’t wait to see every summer. Maybe it was a staff member who encouraged you years ago, or a friend you lost touch with but are grateful for the impact they had.
We’re thankful for the many unique individuals who make up our Camp Community!
Next in our “Week of Gratitude,” we’re grateful for this place - this beautiful mountain that Falling Creek is located on, and the natural landscape of the greater Western North Carolina area.
Think about your favorite place at camp, or the number one place you enjoyed going to on an adventure trip.
We’re thankful to be surrounded by such natural beauty!
Next in our “Week of Gratitude”, we’re grateful for goals. Both the motivation that comes from setting them, and the feeling of accomplishment when our hard work towards progressions or goals pays off.
Think of something you’re proud of having achieved at camp, or the person who helped you accomplish that goal.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to pursue and reach goals in a setting like camp!
We’re grateful for the bustle and excitement of camp. The way we can let loose and be as loud and crazy as we want to be.
Think of your favorite exciting camp memory. Was it the cheers and excitement from the start of your first Ironman competition, or the rush of finally running a huge rapid? The surprise of an elaborate Morning Assembly announcement, or the enthusiasm and laughter from the mud pit on the 4th of July?
We’re grateful for all the wild and crazy moments that make camp so memorable!
We’re grateful for the quiet moments at camp too. Those peaceful times where you wish you could linger a little longer.
Think of your favorite peaceful camp memory. Maybe it was seeing the sunrise on a misty mountain morning, or falling asleep to the cozy sound of rain on the metal cabin roof. Maybe it was enjoying campfire together, or just an arm around you from a good friend.
We’re grateful for all the quiet and peaceful parts of camp.
We’re grateful for the past: for camp’s history and the alumni who have made Falling Creek what it is today.
We’re thankful for the founding campers and counselors, the trailblazers, first ascenders, and tradition starters.
What camp tradition are you grateful for?
To wrap up our “Week of Gratitude”, we’re grateful for camp’s future!
Being able to gather on this mountain together in the summer is something that we never take for granted. We’re thankful for the boys coming to camp in 2025, the staff who have already committed to the summer, and those who will decide to join us in the summers ahead.
We’re grateful for the summers that we have to look forward to, and we’re excited for all the memories that have yet to be made.
“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:24
On this day especially we are grateful for our many blessings here at camp. We hope you and your families have a joyful and safe Thanksgiving!
