Ready to party?

Over the weekend we had our annual June Camp Dance with Illahee. The theme was Western and the boys got dressed up all smart to meet the girls.

We had the Robinia and Betula lines leave to visit Illahee, while our Sorrel and Tsuga lines remained behind so we could host Illahee.

It was such an honor to have had the Illahee campers join us. We’re grateful for their hospitality towards our boys at their camp for the traditional session dance.

Cookout Dinner

Our Sorrel and Tsuga lines hosted the Illahee girls for dinner on the Turf Field. We had a wonderful barbecue with pork butts that Chef Dee smoked here at camp, mac’ n cheese, baked beans, watermelon, bread rolls, and for dessert, some chocolate chip cookies.

We also had ice pops as a cool down snack, very much needed after some crazy dancing.

Friendly Competitions

Some friendly counselor competition was definitely in order after that cookout meal. The campers, both Falling Creek as well as Illahee cheered their counselors on while we participated in some challenges.

The first challenge was an iconic lip sync battle and dance routine. The counselors were given 5 minutes to come up with an awesome dance routine they had to lip sync with

The second challenge included a toilet paper roll wrapping contest. We had three counselors from each camp volunteer to be wrapped up in toilet paper. We had two counselors wrap each person and mummify them. It was such a blast.

After all of this friendly competition, and each camp cheering for their counselors, we still couldn’t decide who the winner would be.

In the end, it was up to the campers to decide the winner by having everyone get involved in a wild dance party on the gym floor. We played “Party in the USA” by Miley Cyrus and had every single camper and counselor dance their hearts out!

It was inevitably a draw between Falling Camp and Camp Illahee, as everyone really brought their best moves to the table.

Let’s Dance

We then danced the evening away!

Bringing back 2000s hits and having counselors and campers all singing along to our favorite songs. Of course we had some line dancing, as well as the macarena.

It was an absolute ball.

Thank you Illahee for joining in on the fun and making it a night to remember.
