Oliver R. a.k.a Tortilla Jackson, played ‘Tiny Dancer’ on the piano, it was absolutely beautiful and had the crowd waving their arms in the air to his melody. It was a lovely composition and he played the entire song which is definitely showing a lot of talent.
Mauricio is a counselor at Falling Creek, and he entertained us with a wonderful traditional dance to the song ‘Mi Morena.’ It was really active and he showed a lot of courage.
William S. portrayed such an exquisite show, it is not often we get to see a prodigy level, generational talent in the making. He played ‘Old MacDonald Had a Farm’ on his belly, by slapping it to the tune. It was a wonderful performance, history was made that night.
Lincoln S. gave us a wonderful piano performance and played ‘The Entertainer’ which was absolutely beautiful. The audience, once again, had their hands waving in the air as Lincoln played this beautiful piece.
Bo T. performed a 30 second dance routine. In such a short amount of time, he was really able to capture the audience’s attention, as he busted out some serious dance moves. He brought all the energy with him that night, despite having suffered a nosebleed beforehand.
Mickey D.Y. took us all away with his absolutely spectacular piano display matched with his beautiful vocals. He performed the song “In My Life” and had the whole crowd ‘locked in’ while they listened to his beautiful melody. It was definitely a wonderful experience to have witnessed.
We then had a master of talents displayed as we witnessed two prodigies, Charlie D. and JJ T. complete a Rubix Cube challenge in a matter of seconds. They had two minutes dedicated to their tasks, yet both managed to complete the challenge in under a minute. It was a sight to see for sure.
Preston S. wowed us with a phenomenal original composition which took us on a journey. It was a playful piano piece that highlighted a beautiful experience. It had ups and downs, it was volume, it definitely told a story. This piece left us in awe, as he played along. What a truly beautiful experience.
Clark P. had exceptional talent! Something we have never seen before, history in the making. This talented boy read a book upside down while doing a headstand. It was such a phenomenal sight to see. He held the headstand for a good 20 seconds while reading an entire paragraph of his book. Now that is definitely talent.
The Performing Arts group really brought the power to this show. They wowed us with, not one, but two spectacular pieces that they have spent all session working on in their activities.
The Breakfast Club Parody Skit: This skit was not only wonderfully written by Alex Watson, the performing arts counselor, it was perfectly executed by the team! We had Noah S, Oliver R, Sawyer F, Parker E, Miles B, Hank M as well as our very own Nuckles participate. The scene took place in detention, 5 boys who were all very different on paper were all sitting together, ready to spend the next few hours in dead silence. Nuckles walks in to remind them of the rules, which includes “no talking, hardly any breathing… as well as no fun of any kind.”
The boys each displayed a different emotion, and their faces were expressive of that. One boy, unaware that he was in detention, was smiling from ear to ear. Another, who portrayed the bully was looking all smug, another who was a germaphobe looked worried and sad. There was the jock, who appeared bored and angry, and finally the self appointed mute boy, who stared aimlessly into the distance.
After a hilarious display of activities, the unusual combination of boys all become friends, and end the show by saying “Same time next week?”
The Falling Creek Anthem: The second performance was the debut of the Falling Creek Song, which was highly anticipated. It was wonderful to see the boys all engaged in singing this melody together. It perfectly displayed what it is like to be a camper at Falling Creek, highlighting the beautiful community we share.
