Today, we journeyed back in time to the electrifying era of the 80s!
With neon colors, wrist warmers, and retro tunes pumping through the air, our camp transformed into a scene straight out of an 80s movie.
Welcome to our 80s Neon Invasion Day.
All the campers fulfilled the role of Pac Man, they had a mission to scour all of camp and collect as many Orbs as possible. Each Orb is worth 10 points each, but if you get pulled by a Ghost (the counselors) you will lose your orbs. Campers must return their orbs to the scoreboard in order for them to count. You can not pull the belts of a counselor, so avoid the ghosts at all costs. There are also fruits (multi balls) to collect worth 50 points each.
The most powerful item is a super orb! This allows campers to pull the belts of counselors for 2.5 minutes while “Hungry Like A Wolf” was playing. This ability is activated for all campers and counselor belts are worth 100 points. The boys loved the opportunity to all of a sudden chase the counselors to pull their flags.
The dance began with us enjoying a delicious entree of food. Tacos served with spiced rubbed chicken, rice, pickled onions, cabbage salad, avocado, roasted squash and a vanilla cookie for dessert.
Once everyone rejuvenated their energy, it was time to get the party started!
We started off with a hilarious game that involved 4 Falling Creek and 4 Illahee counselors. They had to essentially master some dance moves with a big neon ball placed between them. Level 1 was more simple, until we only had 2 teams left attempting the delicate dance. The aim was to complete the moves tasked, without dropping the giant neon ball. Everyone had an absolute blast cheering their favorite team on.
But of course, we can not let them have all the fun!
DJ, take us through the decades. We had songs playing from the 80s to now including all-time favorites like the macarena, the chicken dance and more. We danced through the decades having an absolute blast!
