A Day in The Life of a Main Camper

What's a typical day at boys camp like?

Falling Creek Camp is more than just a place to spend the summer as it’s a home away from home a place where lifelong memories are made.

Each day at camp is an adventure that is filled with exciting activities, beautiful friendships, and the kind of joy that only comes from being immersed in nature.

Waterpolo in the lake on a hot summer day!

Whether it’s the thrill of conquering a new challenge, achieving that goal, or hanging out with your friends in the tranquil mountains, every day at summer camp is a memorable moment.

Join us as we take you through a typical day in the life of a Falling Creek camper

Birk is a first-year camp counselor from Germany, teaching archery and outdoor skills.

Morning Watch

This Morning Watch we had Birk Orendi share his meaning of mindfulness. Birk is a first-year counselor from Germany, teaching archery and outdoor skills this summer. He explained how mindfulness can be described as taking a minute to be aware of your surroundings. Birk shared a story about an uninteresting day back that he had in business school. He was riding his bike home from school when it started pouring with heavy rain, while he was getting completely soaked and heard others complaining, he decided to embrace the rain. It made him joyful.

Every day at camp begins with Morning Watch

He embraced the rain as a “nurturer for our plants and our fields that give us food.” As well as a result of natural interactions that made the clouds form and empty exactly above him. The rain built a metaphysical bridge between him and the whole of all earthly processes.

Birk gave us a beautiful analogy detailing the importance of creating awareness for our surroundings and embracing it.

Morning Assembly

“Announcements for the morning!”

We had a visit from a rather peculiar guest…

“In the forest, the Lorax speaks, For the trees, their future he seeks. With a mustache and a voice so wise, He warns us all, open your eyes.”

The Lorax (played by a Blacksmithing counselor) paid us a visit, to add fuel to a feud as old as time itself. The friendly rivalry between Blacksmithing and Woodworking could not get any more heated, with the Lorax throwing shade at our woodworkers. The woodworking crew came back with a “bonk” and accused the blacksmithers of smogging up the air.

Enjoying Activities

At FCC, each day is packed with a range of exciting activities that cater to all interests and skill levels. Campers can channel their inner Robin Hood in our archery and riflery sessions, or forge their creativity and strength in blacksmithing and woodworking.

For our water lovers, we offer fishing, sailing, and paddling and swimming in the lake. Horseback riding through scenic trails, conquering the climbing wall, and mastering outdoor skills ensure that there is a little something for everyone. Our diverse range of activities ensure that every camper can find their passion.

Evening Program

For the Evening Program, we had our line EPs.

Camp separated into their lines Sorrel, Tsuga, Betula, and Robinia for an evening of exciting fun and games. Although Perryweather, our lightning system, went off minutes before EP was meant to start, we were still able to have a thrilling evening by enjoying games in the Gym, Dining Hall, and Thunder Dungeon instead.

Sorrel went off to play multi-ball and Duck, Duck Goose, Tsuga enjoyed ping pong, and foosball while Robinia played dodgeball and Betula had an exciting trivia night. The winner of the trivia will win a Pizza Party for their cabin so the stakes are high.

All in all, despite the rain, it was a beautiful day at Falling Creek.
