Our weekends are a bit different from our weekday activities.
Today we would like to highlight a few exciting things that happen on the weekends. We have loads of fun on the weekends at Falling Creek.
We ensure that our Saturdays are filled with incredible, wild, adventures while our Sundays are an opportunity to wind down and relax.
How do our weekends look?
Firstly, we get to sleep in a little. Instead of our usual waking up at 7:30, we get an extra hour of rest and wake up at 8:30am.
Theme Days
We enjoy special theme days on Saturdays. This past Saturday, we had our Renaissance Fair Day, which we posted a blog about yesterday. These theme days provide the campers and counselors the opportunities to dress up and engage in a fun day inspired by the theme.
Coming up, we have an Olympics Day as well as an 80s Neon Invasion Party. These days are much anticipated and we are hyped to embody these themes with games and activities.
All Camp Games
Every Saturday, we have an all-camp game that gets everyone together and involved. These events help campers further connect with each other and build their sportsmanship and improve their team spirit.
A few all-camp games that deserve an honorable mention include Town Square Tournament, the Olympics Racing, and Pac Man.
Saturdays are definitely filled with fun and excitement that further strengthen the bonds we are building, while creating new ones.
Sundays are for re-energizing and relaxing, getting our mind, body, and spirit ready for the upcoming week.
We take this as an opportunity to reflect on the past week’s accomplishments and set goals for the week ahead.
Sunday Church
It is time to give thanks for the wonderful week we are blessed with in our weekly church sessions. This is where we truly get to reflect on the week we have just had and take a moment to take it all in. We focus on our mental wellbeing, being able to check in with ourselves and God. We sing songs, praise the Lord and have a wonderful service led by Matt Sloan.
Ice-Cream Sundaes
One thing we all really look forward to on Sundays is our tradition of enjoying some yummy ice-cream sundaes. We get spoiled with a choice of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice-cream. With toppings such as whipped cream, sprinkles, caramel or chocolate sauces, cookie crumbs or cherries.
Unfortunately, yet again, we had the rain wash us out and we spent campfire in the McGrady Gym. We still hold our campfire traditions strong and enjoy a lovely evening together.
We spoke about Resilience and what it means, as well as how we can embody that in our daily lives. A perfect example of resilience was given to us in the form of a hilarious skit. We had Rodgers, Beans and Whit display what it means to be resilient and face adversity. Rodgers acted as a camper who didn’t quite know how to ride a bike, wasn’t the best swimmer, or very fit but really wanted to do the Ironman race. He attempted the first year, and unfortunately did not do so well. We then saw him getting trained by Beans and Whit and attempting the Ironman again. This time he did well and completed the race, showing great resilience.
This week is all about how to be resilient and push yourself.
