12 Days of Christmas, or Camp-mas!

The 2024 ornament features the overlook, a favorite spot at camp with a great view of the Blue Ridge mountains and Green River valley.

This year we’re counting down the 12 Days of Christmas from Christmas Day until Epiphany, but camp-themed of course!

On the first day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

…an ornament in a Christmas tree!

Every year we mail an ornament, card, and new summer camp tshirt to all enrolled campers and hired staff for the holidays. We hope you were able to enjoy the annual FCC ornament on your tree this year. We had ours up in the office to bring some more festive cheer to camp.

On the second day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

📖 two magazines, 🎄 and an ornament in a Christmas tree!

Each year we publish this annual “Grow & Behold” magazine, which features photos from the summer, news about camp, and stories both about and by our campers, parents, and staff. This publication serves as both a historical record of the summer, as well as a way to share news and updates with our camp community.

Can’t wait to read it in person? This edition and all our previous issues can be read on our website!

🎄 And an ornament in a Christmas tree

In our version of the 12 days of Christmas, forget french hens, we want camp pins! (Though there are a flock of very friendly hens at the F.A.R.M. already).

Did you know that we send pins to graduating high school seniors every year? If that’s you, keep an eye out for the email this spring, so we can get your mailing address and hear what your plans are after graduation.

We’re excited to continue to stay in touch as you start your next chapter after high school!

The four values of the Code shape our actions and expectations at camp.

On the fourth day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

four calling birds? No, four value words: our FCC Code!

Warrior Spirit, Servant’s Heart, Moral Compass, and Positive Attitude. These four values shape our actions and expectations at summer camp.

You can visit our blog series to read previous articles about campers and staff who “live by the Code” year round

On the fifth day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

We may not have gold rings, but we have plenty of gold (and green) to show our camp spirit all year!

If you’re running low on gold and green gear, check our our online camp store.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

We play a lot of games at camp, whether it’s Saturday All-Camp-Games, Evening Program each night, or games under the Dining Hall at free time.

Wondering what some of these games are like? You can read our blogs tagged with “Evening Program” here

Did you know you can make camp cookies at home? See how on the blog!

On the eighth day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

eight maids a-milking? Well, while we could use that for nightly milk and cookies, today we’re sharing Alli’s red velvet cookie recipe to bake at home instead!

These red velvet cookies were a camp favorite last summer, but you might not realize how easy they are to make.

Whether it’s leaping off the blob, into a lake, on a horse or bike, on the courts, or just jumping for joy - we can’t wait to jump back into more of this at camp in 2025.

We get to hike to some of the most scenic spots in Western North Carolina and beyond!

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

…11 pipers piping? How about 11 hikers hiking?

You can bet there will be at least 11 campers camping, bikers biking, climbers climbing, riders riding, etc. this summer. You could pretty much insert your outdoor activity of choice here! No matter what, we’re looking forward to more adventures together in 2025.

On the twelveth day of Christmas, my camp friends gave to me…

12 drummers drumming? More like 12 summers summering! This year marks FCC’s 57th summer, and some people joining us on the mountain in 2025 have been coming for at least 12 summers.

This collage features the top nine posts from this past year. Here’s to many more!
