Ham Mandell

  • My name is Philip Mandell
  • I’m known as Ham
  • I’m from Mountain Brook, Alabama
  • I’m rising 2nd Year at University of Virginia, pursuing a degree in Economics/ Commerce and Spanish
  • I was a camper for 7 years (’13-’19)
  • This is my first year on staff at Falling Creek
  • I’m teaching blacksmithing
  • A food I would be happy eating every day is pizza. Now I like pizza, but I am choosing it solely off the fact that pizza can mean so many things. It can be junk food but it can also be made in a very healthy manner. It can contain meat from just about any animal that you would find on a plate or it could be made entirely from plants. It’s good hot and it’s good cold.
  • A fictional place I would want to visit is the Jedi Temple from Star Wars. It is full of super powerful and knowledgeable Jedi who could teach me how to use the force or build a lightsaber.
  • What does a successful summer look like to me? A successful summer has these qualities: I learn or improve a skill that I care about deeply, I make friends and improve existing relationships, I have positive personal growth BUT ALSO have positive impacted others in a meaningful way, and that I make enough money for the school year.
