Kara Edwards

  • My name is Kara Edwards
  • I’m known as Kara
  • I’m from Wollongong, Australia
  • I currently work in the Outdoor Education industry, where I am a camp instructor and guide outdoor actives both on the coast and mountainous regions of New South Wales, Australia. This involves all kind of epic pursuits, like surfing, skiing, kayaking, hiking, snorkelling, climbing etc.
  • This is my second year on staff at Falling Creek (’24-’25)
  • I’m teaching horseback riding and lifeguarding
  • Early bird or night owl? Both! But if I was to choose, nothing can beat the morning light, the sense of stillness that is soon followed by the sounds of the early-rising birds telling everyone to open their eyes. All the more better with a cuppa in hand.
  • If I had my own late night talk show, my first guest would be Mr. Beau Miles, the legendary Aussie backyard adventurer and gnarly outdoorsman. I’d know for certain that he would bring the energy to the table, being notorious for his storytelling, wicked attitude towards life, wholesome sense of humour as well as being an all-round good fair dinkum bloke!
  • If I could live anywhere in the world for a year, I would choose somewhere wild and wooly, where there’s plenty to explore and is largely different from what I am used to in Australia. Let’s say Iceland, or some other island existing in isolation out there in the expansive ocean. Ideally, with a rich community, fresh food and culture, yet somewhat off the beaten track so that tourists aren’t game enough to venture there.
  • Fun Fact: At home I’ve got three Boer goats, Poppy, Banjo and Sandy. I spend my days rounding them up when they’ve jumped the fence into my neighbours place, feeding them carrots and watching them summersault of the trampoline.
