As Director of Facilities, Doug Smather’s role is to oversee the many facets of maintenance that 900+ acres of fields, forests, roads, bodies of water, and structures require. Doug is leading the team that continually works to make improvements to our program and setting, our aesthetic, and our high standard of safety in activity areas.
Doug has 18 years of experience and knowledge not only in facilities management, but also specifically in the camp world. Doug was a Director and Co-Owner at a nearby camp for almost a decade, and previously worked eight years at special needs summer camps as a behavior specialist. Additionally, Doug was an outdoor education instructor for many years back in Ohio, and continues to guest lecture at several colleges. Doug has also facilitated high & low ropes courses and numerous corporate, communication, teambuilding and leadership workshops. Doug and his wife Faith enjoy micro farming and spending time outdoors together with their son Shelby, and their dog Finnegan.Email Doug
