This was the second week of travel for this year’s Camp Reunion and Movie Shows.
This Fall, Yates is traveling from October through November for our Camp Reunion and Movie Shows tour. His stops this week spanned 5 states in 5 days, stopping in Atlanta, Birmingham, New Orleans, Jacksonville, and Charleston.
Full Travel CalendarPictured below on the left is Yates, Grant Pinkston (camper ’09-’17, STEEL ’18, staff ’19-’24), and Ken Cochran (staff ‘87-’88). Grant is from Atlanta and returned here to work after college. Ken, who is from Alexander City, AL, was a photographer at FCC, and he enjoyed reconnecting and sharing his photography skills.
As the families arrived, they enjoyed eating pizza and watching a slideshow of photos and short videos from the summer. It was a great opportunity for families interested in learning more about camp to connect with current camp families. Yates also enjoyed reconnecting with several FCC alumni.
Yates sends out a big thank you to Pellerin D who was super helpful with setting up and breaking down the event. Thank you DeLuke family!
Many thanks to Bevelle & Jamie Worthen for hosting the Birmingham area Falling Creek Camp Movies and Reunion at their beautiful home.
The boys were thrilled to see Asher Sloan (staff ’24-’25), who is a Sophomore at nearby Samford University and will be returning to FCC as a counselor for the 2025 summer.
It was awesome for everyone to be able to play basketball, foosball, and ping pong together while enjoying pizza before the movie. Yates sends a big shout out to the veteran campers in Birmingham for helping him to answer questions from new families who joined to learn about camp.
In the center photo below, Griffin M (camper ‘21-’25), James W (camper ‘18-’19, ‘21-’25), James M (camper ‘20-’25), & Walker C (camper ‘21-’25) are all returning to FCC for the 2025 summer.
Yates made his way further south to New Orleans, a place rich with a tradition of being longtime supporters of summer camps. We send big thanks to Jenn & Lee McMillan for welcoming both the current FCC families and those that came to learn more about summer camp.
There was no shortage of veteran campers that helped Yates tell the story of “why Falling Creek”, and their shared memories of summers in the North Carolina mountains.
In the center photo below, we are excited that Grayson V (camper ‘24-’25) and Will M (camper ‘19, ‘21-’25) are both returning to the FCC Main Camp session in 2025. Will is going to be part of the FLINT (Forging Leaders INTentionally) leadership program!
Thank you Amanda and James Trimble for welcoming the FCC community to your beautiful home in Jacksonville, FL!
In the center photo below, we’re excited that Leuven F (camper ‘18-’19, ‘21-’25), Bauer L (camper ‘21-’25), & Miles H (camper ‘24-’25) will all be returning to camp.
Yates is with Weslee and Allan Rowe and their four boys, all of which are coming to camp this summer! Thank you again for hosting the FCC reunion & Movies event.
Below right, it was great to see Dr. Hunter (camp doctor ‘19, ‘21-’25) and young Hunter (camper ‘19, ‘21-’25). Dr. Hunter is returning in 2025 to serve as the camp physician for a week and we’re excited to have both boys back at camp as well.
In the center photo below, Yates is pictured with Dr. Steve (camp doctor ‘10-’19, ‘21-’25) and Morgan Williams (camper ‘85-’89). Steve Feingold and his family are returning for their 15th summer to serve as the camp physician for a week. Morgan Williams was a camper at FCC for 5 summers, and he brought his son Charles (camper ‘21-’25), who will be returning to FCC for his 5th summer.
The next stop will be Lexington, KY on November 12th - we’re looking forward to seeing the Kentucky and Tennessee #campcommunity during week 3 of travel!
