Every Saturday, we will have a special event that includes a camp game that involves everyone. All the campers and counselors participate in an event that is fun for everyone.
This past Saturday, we had the 2024 Falling Creek Olympics, which we wrote about in our blog yesterday. These events help campers connect with each other, build sportsmanship and ultimately improve their team spirit.
Our special events include theme days. This past Saturday was the Olympics, with next Saturday being Western Day, where we will embody the Wild Wild West
A few Special Events and All-Camp games we can look forward to include a Rodeo and Wild Wild West for Western Day, as well as Zombie Apocalypse and Capture the Flag.
Our Saturdays are definitely filled with fun and excitement, as everyone gets involved in games and activities, further strengthening the bonds we create in brotherhood.
Sundays at Falling Creek are for unwinding, re-energizing, and relaxing. We have the perfect program to ensure the campers are prepared for the week ahead’s activities. We reflect on the past week’s accomplishments, as well as set goals for the coming week.
Cabin Inspections - although we do daily cabin inspections, on Sunday’s we have a proper cabin inspection to ensure the boys are living comfy and clean. Counselors help the campers clean up, which builds a sense of community within the cabins. During these Sunday inspections, cabins are given additional time to do a more thorough clean before being checked by a Director. Trunks are also left open on these days, ensuring there is nothing wet or dirty inside. It’s a good way to reset and have a clean slate after a busy week.
Sunday Church - we love our weekly church sessions. This is when we get to reflect on the week that we have had, and reconnect with our spiritual selves. Focus on our mental wellbeing as well as check in with ourselves and God. We sing songs, pray, praise the lord and have a wonderful service led by camp’s Chaplain, Matt Sloan.
Ice-Cream Sundaes - one of the best things to look forward to on a Sunday would be our tradition of having ice-cream sundaes! Choose between vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream flavors, and top it up with whipped cream! You can also add chocolate and caramel sauce, cookie crumbs, sprinkles as well as cherries.
Cookout - our weekly tradition of having a cookout on the turf field on Sundays is always something to look forward to. We enjoy burgers with sides such as beans, sweetcorn, watermelon, and brownies for dessert. Everyone gets to eat dinner on the field and play around for a little bit, before having our traditional Sunday campfire.
Campfire - our long-lasting tradition of doing campfire every Sunday is a Falling Creek favorite. We enjoy songs, skits and tell stories. It is a great way to set the tone for the week by unveiling the new theme that we will follow for the next few days. As we say a farewell to the topic of Opportunity, we will be welcoming the theme of Value into the community.
After all of this excitement and joy, I am sure you wish that you could spend the weekends with us! Rest assured that your boys are having a good time and thoroughly enjoying their June Camp 2024 session.
