Kicking Off July with Jerseys, Games & Camp Traditions

Kickstart the Weekend: Saturday Morning Excitement

Saturday at camp transformed into SportsCenter Jersey Day, and the excitement was high from breakfast to lights out. Boys wore their favorite team gear, proudly repping clubs, schools, and hometown heroes. The day’s events were part of a larger Green vs. Gold showdown, with a full slate of games worth a whopping 400 points on the line.

Boys had a full-slate of options for the day with multi-sport faceoffs, Jersey Spirit everywhere and everyone in camp joining in-it was a FULL DAY. Our Ironman participants kicked off their multi-day challenge with swim trials. By nightfall, afternoon program had camp running from end to end.

  • Multi-Sport Faceoffs: Each Green and Gold team selected representatives to compete in soccer, basketball, baseball, kickball, and more. Points added up quickly, and cheering sections kept the energy high on every field and court.
  • Staff Games: Counselors jumped in on the action too, suiting up and playing alongside campers in friendly, fast-paced matchups.
  • Jersey Spirit: From Premier League kits to vintage NBA throwbacks, campers showed up in full spirit mode—and a few homemade jerseys made their debut too.
  • Evening Program: After dinner, a brand-new camp-wide game called the Final Battle was unveiled that tested campers' teamwork and adaptability on the land-sports field. Cabins competed in a fast-moving, strategy-based challenge with five stations, including Trashketball, tic-tac-toe sprint, paper-rock-scissors Math, water pitcher pass and the yarn/ball cup game. The buzz around it hasn’t stopped since.

Sunday: A Day to Recharge and Reflect

Sunday morning brought a slower, sweeter start—donuts, crosswords, and cartoons helped campers ease into the day. It was the perfect contrast to Saturday’s high-energy pace and a much-loved tradition here at camp.

After this quiet start, we gathered for a reflective and grounding Sunday service, followed by a classic fried chicken lunch.

The afternoon marked the official start of our FCC Classics—a series of beloved all-camp games and challenges. First up: Capture the Flag, played Green vs. Gold style and worth 300 points. The intensity on the field—and the celebration afterward—said everything about how much fun it was.

    • Cabin Clean-Up: As always, Sunday included our traditional clean-up competition, with the cleanest cabins earning first dibs at the Ice Cream Sundae bar.
    • Free Choice Hour: Campers spent time between big events doing what they love most—whether that was reading, fishing, or tossing a frisbee with a friend.
    • Campfire: The day closed with Campfire, where boys shared skits, reflections, and songs that marked the end of a weekend packed with spirit, tradition, and connection.

In Solidarity with Camp Mystic

While we were celebrating here in the North Carolina mountains, our thoughts were with our friends at Camp Mystic and other camps across Texas who are facing the devastating aftermath of recent flooding. We’re lifting them up in prayer and sending heartfelt support from one camp community to another as they recover and rebuild.

Looking Ahead

These weekend moments—laughing during a new game, singing at Campfire, or working together to earn Sundaes—are part of what makes Falling Creek more than just a summer experience. They build bonds, reinforce our values, and remind us that connection and growth go hand in hand.

As we head into the new week, we do so with full hearts, deeper friendships, and plenty of stories still to write.
