View of the newly laser graded ball field at Falling Creek Camp from the edge of the Iroquois Tribal area.
Being on top of a mountain makes it no surprise that the Ball Field at Falling Creek Camp is a highly popular area of flat land that usually is not without some activity taking place on it. With the unusual amount of rain that the eastern part of the United States received in the 2013 summer, the abuse to the field was also more than typical summers. We are excited to announce that we removed soils that had poor qualities and trucked in almost 40 large dump truck loads of good dirt to professionally blend together. Then, a laser grader spread the dirt in a precise manor that followed the correct slope requirements to quickly shed water in an even fashion in the future.
You will also notice that the playing field usable area has been extended since we expanded into the location where the old volleyball court used to be. This new area, combined with the new ball field located in front of the Gym being constructed, is a welcomed expansion for the 4 land sports activities including soccer, lacrosse, flag football, and ultimate frisbee. With Frank, Simon, Drew, and Jerry’s oversight, the new grass is expected to serve us well in all of the planned activities for the 2014 summer. We are very excited indeed!
