Dair McFarland

- I’m known as Dair or Alasdair
- I’m from Houston, Texas
- I’m a senior at The University of Texas at Austin, with a History Major and Business Minor
- I was a camper for 6 summers (’12-’16,’18)
- This is my first year on staff at Falling Creek
- I’m teaching ultimate frisbee and music
- My favorite magical or mythical creature? Easily the national animal of Scotland, the unicorn.
- Something I’ve completed on my “bucket list?” When I was 13 I decided I wanted to travel to play shows for huge crowds. Last year, my band got the chance to play in Norman, Oklahoma and Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and we got to open for Randy Rogers Band to a crowd of over a thousand. I’d say that definitely checked something off my bucket list. Also last summer I got the chance to visit Omaha Beach in Normandy, which I’d wanted to do since I saw Saving Private Ryan for the first time when I was 10.
- My favorite sandwich? If a burgers count as sandwiches (which I think they objectively do) then I’d say a double bacon cheeseburger with lettuce, onion, pickles, and jalapeños. If we’re talking traditional sandwiches, I’m a sucker for some good chicken salad between two pieces of white bread.
- Something I’m currently trying to make a habit is running. I go on streaks of running every day then taking weeks off and I’d like to make it an everyday thing.
- The best present I’ve ever received? My grandfather gave me a Fender Mod Shop precision bass for my 14th birthday. I still play it almost every day.
